Anti-Gay Lawmaker Sally Kern Attempts to Enter Oklahoma Capitol with Gun

For the second time in two months, anti gay Oklahoma representative Sally Kern was stopped from entering the state capitol with a firearm, saying she simply forgot to remove the gun from her purse while getting out of the car. Kern made headlines earlier this year when a tape recorded conversation was posted to YouTube in which she made comments she equating homosexuality to terrorism.

Oklahoma to Get First Openly Gay Legislator

For the first time in state history, an openly gay candidate is poised to become a member of the Oklahoma Legislature. Democrat Al McAffrey won a three-candidate primary race Tuesday with 51 percent of the vote, avoiding a runoff in the House District 88 seat in the heart of Oklahoma City. No Republicans challenged McAffrey for the seat.
